Day Visits are organised by volunteers and visit places of interest that are typically a comfortable coach journey from Reading.  All day visits start in central Reading, the time being determined by the nature of the day.  The coach returns to central Reading and may make one additional drop-off stop depending on the route taken.

The Day Visits are announced in the Summer and Winter newsletters, each having a 6 month programme. An application form is  included with each newsletter which must be submitted by a specified closing date.  Places will be allocated according to a tried and trusted scheme that aims to provide a fair allocation of places to members.  Specifically places are not allocated on a response date basis; no allocation takes place until after the closing date.  Where more members have applied for a Day Visit than places are available a waiting list will be maintained by the organiser.  It is quite common for all those on the waiting list to eventually get a place.

Some Day Visits may not be full, but still full enough to run, so it is possible that places may still be available after the closing date.  To check, look at the Latest News page and then contact the organiser.

If you are already booked on a Day Visit, or are on a waiting list, and need to cancel, please contact the organiser as soon as possible.  A refund will only be made after the visit or event if the seat etc can be re-sold, less an administration charge of £2.

Theatre Visits

Theatre visits are organised by volunteers and visit a number of venues within south-east England including Chichester, Guildford, Windsor and London.  There is a varied programme of plays, dramas, musicals and dance to appeal to all tastes.  Shows are usually matinees, and the visits start at, and return to central Reading.  Group bookings can often achieve good ticket prices, and the cost  will also include the coach.  A specific arrangement operates for Theatre Visit booking because of the fluid schedules of the performances.  Details of how to join the Theatre Group mailing list will be found in the bi-annual Newsletter.
